SEO

Researching keywords helps you find the best ones to use in your content. Depending on your service, you can use analytics like search density and the number of backlinks you need to build your ranking.

Keywords can help you climb up the Google ranks if you use them in a smart way. The more work you put into your research, the more likely it is that your keyword research and use will start to bring in traffic on its own.

Find out more about how researching keywords can help your SEO strategy. Keyword research can show you what your website is missing and help you create content that directly answers search queries. If people are looking for things you haven't written about, you know exactly what to write about next on your blog or what landing pages your site needs.

If you want to make the most of your online presence and get more customers and leads, you need to spend a lot of time researching keywords and using them in your content.

Keywords helps SEO

What are keywords?

Keywords have to do with the subjects that make up your content. They are the words and phrases that people use to search for things online. Keywords help you organize your topics and content so that search engine crawlers can understand what your content is about.

Google is more likely to link your content to someone's search if your topics are related to what they are looking for.

Over time, Google will rank your page higher if you focus on and write about more keywords.

Keyword research tips

  • Plan out your scope before you research

It's important for your keywords to fit into specific groups. My website, for example, is all about writing, blogging, and SEO. I can build different topical keywords from these different groups. It's easy to get off track if you don't have a plan for how your topics will fit together. Before making a list of keywords, think about what you want to do.

  • Look at your competition

It's always a good idea to use your competitors as a guide to help you with your content strategy. Look at what they're writing about and read it to see where they're missing information.

Use what they have written to help you decide what you should spend time on. You can do this research by hand or with the help of tools like SEMrush.

They have a feature that will show you the keywords that your competitors are using. You can also use Google Keyword Planner, which is also free. You can use the planner's "Start with a website" feature to enter the website of a competitor.

You'll get a lot of ideas from pages that are already doing well.

  • Use Google Search

Searching for different kinds of topics that are related to your market is a great way to help people find exactly what they are looking for. Type in different questions or different versions of questions that have to do with your different terms, and you will get a variety of writing topics.

Go the extra mile and look for those queries. Go to the top pages and look at what they have to offer. Take notes on how they are put together and use that to help you plan your own.

Online, all content is reused. You can quickly create a lot of content by using content made by other people in a smart way.

What tools are good for keyword research

You can use a number of paid tools to help with your keyword research. But if you are just starting out, they can be pricey and hard to understand. I think you should start out by using Google Analytics and Google Keyword Planner. Once you know how to do keyword research, you can use tools that cost money. When you pay for these tools, you get access to more than just information about keywords.

Free keyword research tools: Google Analytics & Google Keyword Planner

Google has a variety of tools that can help you improve your content. Google Analytics is a great way to keep track of how certain keywords are doing and find out where your traffic is coming from. Google Analytics can help you keep track of how people use your website. Google Ads includes Google Keyword Planner.

You can use this tool to help you figure out what keywords to look for. I already told you that you can use this tool to find out where your competitors rank and what keywords they use, but you can also use it to find out how other keywords you've come up with measure up.

It can be hard to figure out how to use both of these tools, so check out my full, detailed guide to keyword planners. Here is my full guide on how to use Google Keyword Planner and Google Analytics.

Paid keyword research tool: Ahrefs

Ahrefs is one of the tools I use the most. It costs money, which can be a problem if you are just starting out with your business. But the access you do get if you pay is pretty amazing. The keyword research tool is great for finding specific search terms, and it also shows you search terms that are similar.

It's different from Google's search tools because it shows keyword density and what you need to do to get on Google's first page. Ahrefs has tools for researching keywords and also does thorough audits of your site. These breakdowns show which keywords are linked to your site and where they rank on search engines.

If you can afford to subscribe to a paid tool, I would strongly suggest Ahrefs. It's one of my favorite tools because I've used it for my marketing business.

Conclusion: The Importance of Keywords

To make a strong impact on organic search online, you need keywords. It's important to write content that uses the same keywords over and over again. The more you write about certain topics, the more Google will see your website as focused, and it will rank over time.

Keywords are an important part of marketing, but they aren't the only important part. You'll need to use these keywords to your advantage by building backlinks and making internal links. Read my article about building links to find out more.

Remember that you can use free and easy-to-find tools like Google Keyword Planner to help you find the right terms that your competitors are using or that you've found by searching.

Obviously, you won't get as much information as you would with a paid program like Ahrefs, but it's more than enough! The best of luck with your keyword work!
